Raised With Christ Puppet Skit

Jenny May: (moving in a swooping motion) Weeeeeeeeee!!!! Look Grandpa, I’m flying!

Grandpa: Yes, you are girl. Watch out for those rocks below you!

Jenny May: Ha Ha! There aren’t any rocks below me. You’re being silly Grandpa.

Grandpa: Well, when you are above everything, isn’t everything beneath you?

Jenny May: (Jenny May stops moving and turns toward Grandpa.)

Grandpa, what are you talking about?

Grandpa: I’m talking about flying, girl! Didn’t you know that the Bible talks about us flying?

Jenny May: Really?

Grandpa: Come sit with me child. Now then, let me explain how God made us to fly. Have you learned you have been raised with Christ in Children’s Church yet?

Jenny May: Ohhh! We’re learning that now!

Grandpa: You see my girl, learning you are raised with Christ, raises your thoughts to a higher place.

Jenny May: Our teacher taught us that we set our minds on things above. But I’m not sure what that really means, Grandpa.

Grandpa: Well… what do you ordinarily think about in a day?

Jenny May: Hmmm…well I think about what Mom is cooking for supper, about which friends will call me today, and…..what I’m going to wear to Amy’s birthday party tomorrow, and oh! I also think about Mrs. Franklin being in the hospital and I say a prayer for her.

Grandpa: That is wonderful, child! You see, praying for Mrs. Franklin comes out of your spirit. And it is normal to think about the other things you mentioned. Setting your mind on things above is always reminding yourself you are in Christ. It is feeding on the Word and meditating the word.

Jenny May: How do you, what did you say, feed and mediate…the Word?

Grandpa: Feed and meditate. You read your Bible and you think about the things you’ve heard and learned through your pastors and teachers. And you do the most important thing… you pray. Ask your heavenly Father to open your understanding into the Scriptures and seek to know Him.

Jenny May: Is that how we fly?

Grandpa: You are one smart girl. Do you know you have eagle’s wings? Isaiah 40:31 says we will mount up with wings as eagles. That word mount up is saying we will rise up. When we are raised in our minds and our spirits, we are above those things that pull at the flesh. You see, an eagle doesn’t work hard to get up high. He catches a gust of wind and rides that wind as if it were a wave, and he rises higher and higher. That is what we do in Christ, as we feed on what His death means to us. We’re learning that we are already in heavenly places in our spirits. We are soaring like an eagle.

Jenny May: Oh, Grandpa, that is awesome! I really can fly! But I’m not flying alone, I’m flying with Jesus!

Grandpa: (chuckling) Yes, my girl, you are flying with Jesus. How about you and I fly on over to the kitchen and see if Oogene ate all the cookies? A big fat chocolate chip cookie sounds real good, right now….
