The Seven Pillars of Truth- Puppet Skit Lesson 3

What Happened To Jesus in His Redemptive Work

Mom puppet appears to be reading her Bible. Jenny May enters.

Jenny May: Mom, can I ask you a question?

Mom: Of course, dear, what is it?

Jenny May: Well, Oogene and Grandpa came back from the pond, and they were talking about Jesus being the second Adam. I know I’ve heard that at church, but…Mom, is that really in the Bible? Isn’t Jesus the Son of God? How can He also be the second Adam?

Mom: Yes, Jenny May, it’s in the Bible. It’s always important for us to go to God’s Word and see if something we hear is in there, especially if it causes questions inside of us. It could be that God wants to show you something. Turn my Bible to 1 Corinthians 15:45

Jenny May: Mom, your Bible is the Amplified Bible and it has a lot of words. If I get stuck can you help me read it?

Mom: Of course, Dear.

Jenny May: OK. "Thus it is written, the first man Adam became a living being (an individual personality); the last Adam (Christ) became a life-giving Spirit [restoring the dead to life]." Wow! It really is in the Bible!

Mom: Yes, Dear. Now I want you to read the next few verses, too. You’ll understand why when you’re done.

Jenny May: Ok, Mom. Verse 46….."But it is not the spiritual life which came first, but the physical and then the spiritual"….Mom is this talking about my body as the physical, and my heart inside as the spiritual?

Mom: Yes, Jenny May. Your heart is the throne of God. When you accepted Jesus into your heart, who you were created to be, opened up inside of you. Remember, you are a spirit first, you have a mind and you live in a body. What does the next verse say, dear?

Jenny May: "The first man [was] from out of earth, made of dust (earthly minded); the second Man [is] the Lord from out of heaven.

Verse 48: Now those who are made of the dust are like him who was first made of the dust (earthly minded); and as is [the Man] from heaven, so also [are those] who are of heaven (heavenly minded)."

Mom, this is saying we are what we believe we are, right?

Mom: Very good, Jenny May. Once we become born again, we no longer are like Adam, we become like Jesus. But until we know Who we are like, we will behave like Adam, having in our minds the nature of Adam. It is important to set our minds on heavenly things..the Bible says to be renewed in our minds. Would you like me to read the last verse?

Jenny May: Yes! That’s a lot of reading!

Mom: Verse 49; "And just as we have borne the image [of the man] of dust, so shall we and so let us also bear the image [of the Man] of heaven.

Jenny May: Oh Mom, now I get it! God sent Jesus to become what He wanted us to be in the first place! The first man was Adam, but he sinned and fell from his heavenly place. When he did, he took all of mankind with him. So Jesus became the second Adam, to bring us back into right standing with God, and make it as if sin never happened.

Mom: That’s right, Jenny May. Do you know how Jesus did away with sin?

Jenny May: We learned that in Children’s Church. Jesus became sin.

Mom: That’s right, dear. Jesus, who knew no sin, was made to be sin for us, so that we could become the righteousness of God, in Him.

Jenny May: So what’s most important is knowing that we are in Christ! And He is in me. I like knowing my heart is His throne Mom! Thank you for helping me understand. I’ll let you get back to studying, I’m gonna go call Brittany. Bye Mom!
