The Seven Pillars of Truth Children’s Lesson 2

Who Adam Was and What Adam Did

Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned. NIV

Not living in the image of Father God entered the world because the first man Adam chose to live independent from His Father. He cut himself and all after him off from the Life of God. And therefore man had no fellowship with Father God came because of that, which produced death in every realm of life. (mental, physical, socially and financially) Everyone was of the first man Adam, so a perception of lack came to all people. Romans 5:12 Revised Most Holy Place Version

Today we are learning the second pillar in Paul’s System of Truth. Before we begin, who can tell me what the first pillar is? Answer: What is Man? Man is spirit, soul and body. Very good.

The second pillar is Man’s identification with Adam. Have the class read the Scripture together. Does anyone know who the one man was that sinned? Answer: Adam. Class, it is important to understand that the word "sin" means to miss the mark. Adam was supposed to live as the image of Father God. He chose to decide for himself what was good and evil, rather than trust Father God. Because of his choice Adam began to see himself as greater than Father God.

Why would, what one man did cause all after him to be affected? Allow the children to answer. When we learned the Six Steps to the throne, we learned that all humanity was in Jesus during His death, burial, and all were in His at His resurrection. So could it be that when Adam chose to live independent from Father God, all were in Adam? Yes, we were.

Does anybody know how all mankind was in Adam? Allow the children to voice their ideas.

Because Adam was the very first man God created, he became the head of all mankind. Just like your Mom and Dad became your parents, so Adam and Eve became the parents of all the people that came after them.

As we read our Bibles, we learn that God was only concerned with two people. One of those people was Adam. Can anyone tell me who the second Person was?

Answer: Jesus! We are going to learn more about what God did in Jesus later, but right now, we are learning about who Adam was, and what Adam did.

Have the children turn their Bibles to Genesis 3:1-6, and allow the children take turns reading the Scriptures.

What did Adam do that caused him to sin? Answer: He disobeyed God and cut himself off from the life of God, which was His life. Why was what Adam did, so bad? Answer: Because there was no perception of lack in the life that Father created for man, and Adam caused the perception of lack in every realm to enter the minds of men.

Can someone tell me how Adam’s sin affected all who were of him? Answer: it caused every one born after him to live with a perception of lack –meaning they cut themselves off from the life of God – and sickness, disease and poverty became a part of very person life during that time.

When we read our Scripture verse from Romans 5:12, what did it say happened when sin entered the world? Answer: Death came to all people.

How did death come to all people? Did they die and have to be buried in the ground? Have the children discuss how death came.

Therefore, since humankind is still on earth, that means all humankind didn’t die physically. What the Bible is saying, is that the human race died to the spiritual realm or life that they lived in before Adam fell.

Does anyone know what that means?

It means those of the first man Adam became separated from their Father. We learn in our Bibles how being separated from God effected them. Did being separated from God affect man in their bodies? Answer: Yes. They had sickness and disease.

We have many stories in the Bible that tell us how being in Adam effected humanity. Raise your hands if you remember a story that tells about how living with a perception of separation from Father God affected those people before the Cross. Have the children tell some of the stories they remember.

Suggestions: expound on what they mean; blind man (no spiritual vision), deaf man (unable to hear spiritually), lame man (unable to walk uprightly)…

All of these things was released into the earth when Adam disobeyed God. Nevertheless, God our Father loved His children too much to leave them spiritually separated from Him. He sent His Son, Christ Jesus to undo what Adam did. Next week, we are going to learn what happened to Jesus.

Now I want to ask you a question. If I do something that is not part of my true nature (lie, cheat, steal) (point to yourself), is God pointing His finger at me, and mad because I did those things, and judging me? Allow the children to answer.

The answer is, no. God may not be happy because I made a mistake, but He does not see me as what I did, He sees me a redeemed and righteous (explain that righteous means right with God), He sees what sin was when Adam released it into the earth. God took care of that sin when Jesus went to the cross. Now, God sees us for who we are. You see, we have been given the nature of Father God and we can live as Jesus did while on this planet. However, until we know who we are as Sons of God, we are still trying to do things out of our own efforts and rules.

By learning the Seven Pillars of Truth, we are going to learn about our nature in Christ. Before we go today, who was Adam? Answer: The head of the human race.

What did Adam do? Answer: Adam fell into the belief of good and evil, and when he did, he brought spiritual death to all people. He chose to live independently (explain independent) from His Father, who is man’s life.
